Most children feel that they are able to open up to me because they can see the things i have went through, most kids could relate my life to theirs.
There are many different fields that you could choose to go into while going for social work. I am choosing to be a children's counsoler.. My past will be a major help while doing my career.

Here is some helpful information on social workers to help someone else out on finding the job they want the most.
Being a social worker is often a challenging, yet rewarding career. Social workers are responsible for helping individuals, families, and groups of people to cope with problems they’re facing to improve their patients’ lives. One aspect of this is teaching skills and developing mechanisms for patients to rely on to better their lives and experiences.
In dealing with the multitude of problems that social workers address, they must employ a variety of skills depending on the job that needs to get done. While some of these skills may be natural, many of them are honed while a social worker earns his or her bachelor’s or master’s degree. Below is a list of traits that a well-trained social worker might employ while assisting and guiding a client.

- Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

- Speaking — Talking to others to convey information effectively.

Education to become a Social worker
You can pursue a social work degree at either the bachelor’s or master’s level. In many states, baccalaureate social workers are licensed professionals. Master’s level social workers are eligible for licensing in all states. They have an expanded scope of practice.
The most important thing, when it comes to choosing a program, is accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
A baccalaureate in social work is not a prerequisite for entering a master’s program – a liberal arts degree will be fine. If you don’t have the undergraduate degree in social work, you will miss out on the opportunity to skip some generalist courses at the master’s level. However, when your master’s degree is conferred, you’ll be eligible for the same level of licensing. In most cases, you will work under supervision for two or three years after graduation. All states require post-master’s practice for independent clinical licensing. Many require it for higher level nonclinical licensing – even for macro work like administration.Eventually, you will take one or more licensing exams. In many states, you’ll take the ASWB master’s exam upon graduation (or even before). After you complete your other requirements, you may take the clinical or advanced generalist exam.

The Title of Your Genius Hour Project: Social Work
Summarize the purpose of your Genius Hour project in 140 characters.
My genius hour project is about social workers and what they do on a daily basis. I feel like this Weebly project was a great success, it helped me to learn all that I could about this profession. Now that I know almost everything about social workers I know that this is what I want to college for. The purpose of my project was for me to learn as much as I could about this job, because this is what I would like to do with my life. In my weebly project I explained some information on the job and I also included some pictures and videos of me doing fun things with my niece and nephews. Doing this project help been a great help to me on deciding if social work is the job for me. From looking up all of this information I have learned everything that I needed to learn to know what was right for me.
Explain the process of your Genius Hour project. Be reflective. Be contemplative. Explain and describe your journey. (No Less Than Three FULL Paragraphs.)
To begin the process of my weebly page I created an account through weebly. Through out my first semester of my project is when I entered most of my information about social workers and about myself. I had to look through many different websites to find all of the information that I needed to know. After I put the information about social workers I then continued and on my about me tab I put information about myself and why I think I would make a very good social worker.
As the semester went on I continued to add more and more information about social workers and myself. By the end of the semester I had an entire website created, it many not have been as good as I would have liked it to be at that time but now it is what I want it to be. For our end of the semester project we had to create a video of ourselves explaining our project, why we choose to do this project, and about ourselves. This project took a lot of work but I still feel like there could be a lot more information put into it.
This semester I went further into my project. As I did different fun things with my niece and nephews I would take pictures and post them. So that people could see that there is many different things that you can do with children so that they and you can have fun. I really did not add that much new things to my project this semester I just pretty much added pictures if the kids doing fun things.
The intention For Genius Hour is NOT only to learn, but ALSO to share your knowledge with others who can and will benefit from your learning. How did you share your learning? What do you hope the result might be? (No Less Than Two Full Paragraphs.)
I believe that anyone that is looking at what job they may want to pursue after high school would be the people benefiting and learning from my weebly page. I shared my learning by putting the most important information on my page. My page may not contain everything that it could but it does include the most important basic information you need to know about social workers. I know that my page will be beneficial to anyone looking for a career they may like.
I hope that by the end of my creation of my weebly page it will contain everything that someone must know about social workers. The end result of my project will be when I have posted many pictures doing fun things. At some point there will end up being everything on my weebly page that anyone who looks at it will feel like they know everything about social workers.
If you could do anything different with your Genius Hour project what would you do differently and why? (No less than two full paragraphs.)
If I could do anything different with my project I think I would go back and take it more seriously from the beginning of the assignment. I feel that when we were assigned this assignment at the beginning of the year I really did not care about what my page ended up looking like. But now I see that my page can actually help someone else that was as confused as me find the job they want and need.
I feel that I have not yet completed my project, because I have not put all of the information that I needed to learn, but just by someone reading what is on my page they should learn the basics of social work. I wish I could go back to the start of the year and make myself do a lot better job on my project than I did.
Reflect on what you did well during this Genius Hour process? Note your successes and accomplishments. (No less than two full paragraphs.)
Its hard to say what I did well during the process of doing my weebly page, because I myself do not consider my project complete yet. I guess I did do well by adding pictures to my project and changing the format on my web page. It is really difficult to say to myself what I did so great on my page. I guess I would have to have someone else tell me what is so great about my project, because to me I feel like my project is not all the way complete.
My success on this project was just me creating it no matter what my page contains all the necessary information and a person may need to know for social workers. Doing this project was a major success to me for sure. I know now that this is what I want to go to college for. I know that my page may help others with their confusion on social workers. JUst making this page made my project and I a success!
